DIVISION OF PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES #1

In today's post, we would be discussing on divisions of pharmaceutical services available in Malaysia. Such services are divided into three boards, mainly:

• Poison Board
• Pharmacy Board
• Advertisement Board

1.Poison Board.

Scopes relating to Poison Board:

• Classification of new chemical entities as Scheduled Poisons
• Amending Schedule Poisons classifications
• Removal of substances form the Poison List
• Amending Psychotropic Substances List
• Enforcing Poison Act & Regulations 1952 (Rev. 1989)

Authorizations issued by Poison Board:

(a) Type A authorization

• For a registered pharmacist entitled to supply all poisons based on categories, for both prescription and non-prescription poisons

(b) Type B authorization

• For a person deemed fit by the board officers to import, sell, store, supply and wholesale all poisons, except for Type A poisons
• A person authorized by any corporate bodies based on the Company Act & Regulations 1956 to import, sell, store, supply and wholesale all poisons, with exception on Type A poisons

(c) Type D authorization

• Any person deemed fit by the board to handle, store and retail Part II poisons

(d) Type E authorization

• Any person who is in the business sector, involving the use of substantial quantities of sodium hydroxide
